Assessments

Assessments include both standardized and non-standardized activities, evaluating various aspects such as self-care, play/ leisure, gross and fine motor skills, sensory processing, scholastic/ work tasks, concentration, behaviour, and visual perceptual skills. The assessment duration ranges from 1 to 2 hours, depending on the client’s needs. The assessment fee covers a thorough evaluation, a formal report, and a one-hour feedback session to review the results.

Individual Therapy Sessions

Therapy sessions are customised to meet the unique needs and goals of the client, with options for 30, 45, or 60-minute durations. The length of treatment is influenced by factors such as the client’s individual requirements, their response to therapy, the severity of the impairment, session frequency, and the consistency of attendance in both lessons and home programs. The approach involves utilising play and activities as tools to achieve therapeutic goals, emphasising a client-directed approach in sessions.

Home Programs

Tailored recommendations, strategies, and home programs will be offered based on the specific area of concern. Customised ideas and approaches will be devised to address the individualised needs of each client, ensuring a personalised and effective support system.

Meet Pippa

Pippa is a passionate occupational therapist with a special interest in Sensory Integration. After graduating from the University of Pretoria in 2004, she embarked on her career at Sabie Hospital in Mpumalanga, gaining valuable experience working with patients who faced various challenges, from developmental delays to strokes. Since then, she has gained experience in various settings across the country, from schools to private practices. Her love for understanding the brain led her to focus on sensory integration, supporting individuals with autism, dyslexia, and ADHD.

Pippa’s contributions to the occupational therapy community include mentoring, chairing professional groups, and coordinating courses. Her core belief lies in the potential of occupational therapy to empower individuals, irrespective of their unique abilities, to gain independence in their daily lives, education, work, and leisure. She has an unwavering fascination with the resilience and adaptability of the human brain, recognising that determination can unleash its superpowers.
